While children in soccer-crazed nations like Spain and Brazil learn the value of control and creativity on the ball from an early time, Americans have long lingered behind in their growth of these fundamental skills. Kids have their entire athletic careers to get faster and stronger, and many of those features come with physical maturation. Since every child grows differently, the toughest and fastest 8-year-old is unusually the toughest and fastest 18-year-old. By teaching every athlete a strong base of foot skills, we provide them the best opportunity for success when the games start involving more and the competition becomes more intense. Toe Touches
This soccer foot skills exercise trains athletes to control the ball with the root of their feet while running both forwards and back. These simple things play a tremendous role in ball control, especially in tight spaces.

Place two cones up 10-15 yards apart.
Starting at cone one, move the ball forward by alternating touches with the sole of your foot.
Once you go halfway to cone two, swiftly turn and move backward while drawing the ball along with you by alternating touches with the sole of your foot.
Once you cross cone two, copy the same order back to cone one.

Outside-Inside Touches
This soccer foot skills exercise trains athletes to control the ball with both the core and the external surface of their foot. The more exteriors you’re applying to control the ball, the more you’ll be able to handle the confusion of competition.

Place two cones up 10-15 yards apart.
Starting with cone one, move the ball with the outside of the right foot, then the inside of the right foot, do the same with the left foot.
Keep your toe aiming down as you get in contact with the ball.
Hold the ball close to your body.

Sole Rolls
This soccer foot skills exercise trains athletes to manage the ball with the underside of their feet while running laterally. This is a fundamental dribbling movement that can help players get nearby defenders and avoid blocks.

Place two cones up 10-15 yards apart.
Line up in a parallel stance next to cone one.
Using the bottom of the foot, move the ball forward.
Start with your opposing leg.
Proceed to move the ball forward with the bottom of your foot while stepping with the opposite leg.
Hold the ball close to your body.
